The Kindness Chronicle | May 2026
Dear Friends of BCA,
There’s something special about May. The way the world seems to come alive again. Flowers bloom, colors return, and there’s a sense of renewal in the air. I’m reminded daily that this same spirit of growth and resilience lives within our community.
Because of you, we continue to see hope take root in the lives of those we serve.
As we close out our first quarter, I’m proud to share the impact your support has made possible. Breast Cancer Awareness, Inc. has helped over 50 newly diagnosed breast cancer patients, as well as 9 individuals currently in treatment for other types of cancer. We have also funded more than 50 mammograms. Some of which have already led to early detection. Each of these numbers represents someone in our local community, someone who needed support, and someone whose life has been touched because of you.
I’m so grateful to share that our annual golf tournament was a tremendous success. It was more than just a day on the course—it was a powerful reminder of what can happen when people come together with compassion and purpose. Your support ensures that individuals and families facing breast cancer are met with care, resources, and encouragement when they need it most. Thank you for showing up in such a meaningful way.
Our Annual Day of Giving is tomorrow Friday, May 15th and we’re ending the day with with our signature, PINK Happy Hour event. It will be a wonderful time to connect with local breast cancer fighters, survivors, and thrivers. We will have raffle baskets and specialty pink mocktails and cocktails. Bring your friends and let’s raise a glass to the strength of those in our community. We will be at The Broad Axe from 4-6pm and Hub City Brewery from 6-8pm. If you are unable to attend in person and would still like to participate in our Annual Day of Giving, we would be so grateful for your support. You can make a gift by visiting:

As we look ahead, we are hosting our Annual Survivor Celebration. This gathering is a beautiful reflection of strength, courage, and community, for all of our local breast cancer fighters, survivors, and thrivers. This year’s theme is A Night at the Oscars and is proudly presented by Capital Women’s Care. Please note that registration is reserved for survivors; however, if you or your organization would like to support the celebration as a sponsor, we would love to hear from you. You can reach our office at 301-791-5843 or simply reply to this email for more information.
It is also my privilege to recognize our 2026 scholarship recipients: Cali Brown, Maria Mauzy, Molly Mellot, Elena Park, Brendan Peyton, Laine Peyton, and Sophia Rosales. These students embody resilience and determination, and we are proud to support them as they pursue their futures. To every applicant who entrusted us with your story, thank you. Your courage does not go unseen, and your stories continue to inspire us.
Moments like these; celebrations, milestones, and opportunities are made possible because of this community. Your kindness truly creates impact to ensure that #NoOneFightsAlone
